我是2006年由香港簽証到美國留學的,

我現在就讀語言學校,我是I-20(f-1)簽證

請問我可否申請ssn or opt呢?

* must be in full time student status for at least one full academic year preceding the submission of your OPT application

* be maintaining valid F-1 status at the time of the application, and

* intend to work in a position directly related to your major field of study.

Do we get a social security number while we are on F1 visa?

No.

It used to be (about nearly 10 years ago) that you did. But then they changed the law.

However, it is possible to get a social security number if you are F-1. You can work on campus, so if you can get an on-campus job your school will give you a letter requesting that the Social Security Administration issue you a number because you will be working, and you and the school will need the number for tax purposes.

Once you get the number it will not be taken back if you quit (or are fired).
